Supporting Thriasio’s First Social Café to Employ People with Disabilities

HELLENiQ Petroleum, a member of HELLENiQ ENERGY, has supported from the outset a unique initiative in the city of Elefsina that brings to life the vision of a society without barriers or exclusion. As Major Sponsor, the company supports the operation of the first social café in the Thriasio area to employ people with intellectual disabilities.

Located at 59 Iatrou Papagianni Street, the “PIKILI STOA” social café is a warm, welcoming and inclusive space where everyone can meet, connect and socialise. It has already become a point of reference for residents of the wider area, offering a friendly environment distinguished by its openness, care and genuine human interaction.

The initiative aims to provide vocational training and support the smooth integration of people with disabilities into the labour market within a protected and supportive environment. Through their involvement in the café’s day-to-day operation, employees put into practice valuable professional skills acquired in the food service sector. At the same time, they are empowered through equal participation in employment and daily interaction with the café’s visitors.

“PIKILI STOA” is the first social café of its kind in the Thriasio Plain and one of only a few similar initiatives in Greece to employ people with disabilities. It is operated by the “Oloi Emeis Mazi” (“All of Us Together”) organisation, which provides a wide range of daily services to its beneficiaries through its Day Care Centre for People with Disabilities.

In the same context, it has previously supported the operation of the “Dimitra” Supported Living Residence, another initiative designed to promote dignified, independent and fulfilling living for people with disabilities.
